My front porch is like a magnet for birds to build their nests. I had 8 birds nest this year ~ and while you may be thinking “oh sweet” , they make a terrible mess. But it is worth it, because each new nest discovery brings a smile to Li Li’s face. Well, we had a terrible storm last night and this nest had been built in a fern that toppled over. Thus, this morning we found this little guy who never hatched. Everyone else is gone and he was left behind. Now he will be forever remembered ~

I took this image for my daughter’s new room, but there is another purpose in taking this photograph. It is a Chinese custom to give a 100 wishes quilt to their new born children. While I love the tradition, I just didn’t see myself completing this project. I now have 100 teapots given to my daughter and I am doing what I do best, photographing them and creating a book that is her 100 wishes. It is an interesting project that is almost 4 years in the making and has made me explore the acquaintances and friendship made along the way, and as I read the wishes, what they mean today.
